Dear NBA, The Cleveland Cavaliers would hereby officially like to exercise our “sike” rights regarding the 1st Pick in the 2013 Draft. After all, you never did call, “no take backs”. When we selected Anthony “Tony” Bennett, naturally we assumed it was the 86-year old crooner from New York City with 16 Grammys, not some 20-year old Canadian basketball player from UNLV. Of course spending our incredibly valuable top pick on somebody who few thought would even go in the top-10 wouldn’t make any sense at all. Naturally it would have been much more rational to go with Otto Porter (future best NBA career of this draft class), Victor Oladipo (safest pick of this draft), or Nerlens Noel (top-rated prospect in this draft). Obviously we mistakenly thought that we were selecting Tony Bennett, the singer, in order to once again draw fans into “The Q” for the first time since King James took his talents to South Beach, to be the most-exciting thing that has happened inside of our arena in years, and to finally give Clevelanders something to be proud of, especially with his timeless rendition of “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” (of course replacing the lyrics “San Francisco” with “The Drive” or “The Shot” or “The Fumble” or “The Decision”). Once again, thank you very much for understanding our gross incompetence, and please kindly forward this letter to the NFL on behalf of the Cleveland Browns in advance of whatever idiotic decisions they are certain to make during their upcoming draft next season. Very Sincerely, Cleveland Sports Teams Management
