Dear Newtown Families: I know it was something that most people will never live through, and I am more sorry than you know. Do you understand that filing a lawsuit against Bushmaster is a waste of time, energy and money? The person who caused the tragedy is dead. The responsibility fell solely on Adam Lanza. His mental illness is likely the cause of his actions. I am sure you believe punishing a gun maker will lead to more gun control, and prevent more tragedy, but its not rational. CT and IL have the strictest gun control laws in the country. You need to be concerned about the laws that are protecting the mentally ill, who should have legal guardians to assess and direct what goes on in their care. Although I have young cousins who survived this, and a cousin who was mentally ill, who eventually killed herself, it could have been prevented if she was not in charge of her care. Some of her actions could have had dire consequences but the laws still protected her and not the other way around. This is clearly what happened in the Lanzas case. Drop the lawsuit and move forward for all of those who are still here and living...
