Dear Parents of Parkway Little League: In 2015, Little League - TopicsExpress

Dear Parents of Parkway Little League: In 2015, Little League International will begin implementing a three year plan that changes the format for determining a childs Little League playing age. The plan is intended to lower the age of Little League to align the program with the International Baseball Federation. Beginning in 2015, Little League International will no longer use the May-April format for determining a players Little League age and will change to a calendar year format (January-December) for all players born after April 30, 2005. Due to the 3 year implementation, the new age determination format does not affect players born prior to May 1, 2005, nor does it affect players that are currently assigned to a Parkway Majors Division team. These players will continue to use the current May-Apr age determination format for the remainder of their Little League careers. The players most affected by this change are those born after January 1, 2006 with birth dates between May and December as these players will be moving forward one year in age. For many of you, the new age determination format may promote your child to the next division of play. Be assured that the new age determination format is not a Parkway initiated idea but rather a rule that is currently being implemented by Little League Baseball without local discretion. Our only choice is to adopt the new age format by modifying our programs to the extent possible. This will include expanding capacity and training within the divisions most affected by this change. Should you have any questions concerning the new Little League age determination format, please contact Parkway Little League at parkwaylittleleagueboston@gmail. One of our staff will promptly respond to your concerns. Sincerely, Board of Directors Parkway Little League
