Dear Politicians from the Muslim Community, Humza Yousaf MSP, Councillor Shab Jaffri, Mohammed Razaq, Baillie Hanif Raja Mbe, - could you please assist me in my feeble feminine mindset and just clarify something for me? There was an event on the 25th June 2014 in Glasgow City Chambers today announcing a figure of match funding £5million with Islamic Relief Scotland for one of their programmes? Could someone please clarify the following for my simple brain set as a Pakistani Muslim mother losing her marbles: 1) is this money from the public purse 2) which programme is this supporting within Islamic Relief Scotland 3) is any of this money benefiting people and communities in Scotland facing so many issues around unemployment, poverty, health issues, disability and long term illnesses, rehabilitation programmes, prison work, child abuse, gender based violence? oh and of course the whole issue of antiracism? 4) can you perhaps also shed light on if the money will be used abroad as far as Im aware of this charitys work, it tends to work abroad. Im sorry for seeming a bit of a nuisance, but I think its my genuine right to know what happens to OUR money and Im hoping its not another repeat of politicians favouring personal connections.
