Dear Stephen Wells of ALDF, We in OHIO have been fighting this - TopicsExpress

Dear Stephen Wells of ALDF, We in OHIO have been fighting this fight for over 5 years to get Nitros law passed. Thanks to Liz and Tom and the Nitro Foundation, It finally passed in 2013 again, after 5 grueling years of the legislative process! This made it an option for a felony charge to be brought against a person OWNING A BOARDING facility/ Kennel ONLY. As the law stands currently in OHIO- ANIMAL CRUELTY is ONLY a MISDEMEANOR UNLESS, it is a repeated Convicted abuser...and only on some abuses.AGAIN, let me state...Your post is horribly misleading. We are fighting our asses off to get HB274 brought to the floor of our statehouse for a vote to make ANIMAL CRUELTY a FELONY charge in OHIO ...and for you and your organization to purport that in ALL 50 STATES ANIMAL CRUELTY is treated as a FELONY is INACCURATE! What is the shame of such a post, this misinformation will only lead to people NOT helping to get bills passed to actually make your statement true!!! Michigan is another state that it is ONLY a felony IF 4 or more dogs and less than 10 are abused by the same individual...Another state only has it a felony if the animal is SKINNED...Seriously? Do you and your organization think it fair to post a post like this? I implore you and your organization to please stop this blatant misleading information so all of our efforts to get HB274 passed so we CAN SAY that OHIO has felony charges for ANIMAL CRUELTY..and the other states that are treating animal cruelty as a misdemeanor can get on with this fight to get the laws changed!!!
