Dear Tulsans, I have a secret that I just confirmed last week. The Bogeyman of North Tulsa does not exist. The person who is nervous past 41st is undone by the person whos afraid of going past 15th who then is outmatched by the person who is nervous about anything past Admiral. I have been up and down east and west and I am here to tell you North Tulsa exists at 61st and Peoria/Riverside, it exits at 15th and Admiral, it exists as east as 131st and as far west as Hartford. ITS EVERYWHERE AND THERES NO ESCAPING IT!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! Or, you could chill out and journey to various parts of the city. Like, just past downtown around 2nd are some super cute houses biking distance from Tulsa performing arts and really tasty local restaurants, or at 15th and Harvard there are nice neighborhoods all around the Cherry St. Farmers Market area with playgrounds, churches, doctors offices, grocery stores, coffee shops, and nice restaurants. On 7th street theres is this huge park with a water park (McClure Park) and a bunch of really great neighborhoods with lots of kids that actually ride their bikes up and down the street old school style and dont get kidnapped! AMAZING! All Im saying is stop hating on your city Tulsans, and no part of Tulsa is actually scary. Some parts are run down, or dont have a lot of public green space, walkable sidewalks, convenient grocery stores etc. But most of those descriptors could be used for the area that I live in on 91st and Memorial which is considered a very nice part of town. That doesnt mean theyre bad, maybe just suffering from everyones collective fears. Maybe we should just take a deep breath and figure out what makes us afraid and deal with that instead of trying to drag everyone onto the anxiety bandwagon with us. Just sayin
