Dear all, humbly (and strongly) recommend Wong Kar-wais 2013 - TopicsExpress

Dear all, humbly (and strongly) recommend Wong Kar-wais 2013 film, The Grandmaster, for those who might be interested in. For general audience, this film is about martial arts--the story and era of Bruce Lees teacher, Ip Man (Ye Wen in Mandarin). For filmmakers, it is a dedication/homage to the genre of Kungfu movies in Hong Kong film industry. For people curious about the contemporary Chinese martial arts, it shows a legendary epic in mid-late 20th century China (and Hong Kong). For Chan aspirers/practitioners, this film is ALL about Chan/Zen. You can find Master Huinengs words (along with other Chan masters whom I could not name) and The Matrix there. As a follower of Wong Kar-wais movies, i would say this film is truly a master piece, probably his best work so far. It is astonishingly poetic. youtu.be/BO1yfTfozhk (The film is much more beautiful than the trailer though.) (Sorry for popping in...)
