Dear friends We are still in Cairo. The reason we are still here - TopicsExpress

Dear friends We are still in Cairo. The reason we are still here is simple, but complicated; It shows how Embassies are full of incompetent people and how they mess up the lives of many travelers. See below how the Lebanese Consulate in Nairobi, messed up our trip. When we applied for my wifes visa in Nov 13, the Consulate made a mistake, writing the expire date of the visa on Dec 13, but they knew we were going to arrive only in Dec 20. We reaziled that we could have problems boarding to Beirut with an expired visa, so we asked the secretary to fix her mistake. She talked to Mr. Ibrahim S. Zhakem and returned with our visa. Mr. Ibrahim S. Zhakem, the Consul, manually changed the expire date to 23 of December. It became worse, it appeared that we changed the dates. We complained that they didnt clarify in the visa, that the Consulate manually did the necessary changes. They told us that we would not have problems. Am I going to arugue with the consul? So, we traveled. The first thing that the MEA agent saw was the irregulaty in my wifes visa. She told us that my wife could not fly with a tempered visa. How can we explain that the Consul did all the changes? Why she would believe in us? So we had to enter in Egypt, rebook our flight and come to the Embassy in Cairo to fix the problem. Yesterday we tried to call the Consul in Nairobi, but the Consulate was closed. I will be going to the Embassy em Cairo today to solve this issue. The good side of my story is that we could meet many old friends in Cairo and of course this story will certanly go to our memory book.
