Decided to go for a drive to Howick and stopped at Yellow wood - TopicsExpress

Decided to go for a drive to Howick and stopped at Yellow wood Cafe for lunch as we had a great meal there around a year ago and remembered they had a play area with animals etc. so my 2.5 year old son could have a run around whilst we sat in the fresh air and have a meal. Well my wife and I were incredibly disappointed. The wooden jungle gym was looking very tired with horizontal bars missing as footholds so my son had to be watched extra carefully. Safety needs to be addressed here with some maintenance/repairs. We ordered 2 x homemade beef curry pies with chips and when it all arrived it looked and smelled great. The curry was terribly salty. I managed to eat half of mine and my wife barely had 2 mouthfuls of hers. The waiter wasnt attentive enough to complain to as he was nowhere to be seen. When I went up to ask for the bill, as we really started regretting stopping here for lunch, and pay I asked for the manager and an older grey haired lady came over and I explained the saltiness of the curry to her and she simply said sorry about that..I will go check on it. There was no offer to discount, replace or anything. I felt the whole experience was a waste of R210. To top it off my son hadnt finished his chicken strips and chips and I asked the waiter to please put them in a takeaway box for my little man to eat later. I go back to the table to collect it and he had emptied the leftover curry all over the chips and chicken! I just left it there but did have a word as I walked out. I felt that overall they are battling to maintain the restaurant. I dont remember it ever being bad like this. As they say...only as good as your last meal. Well it will be our last trip to Yellow wood cafe. What a great pity. We could have spent our money at one of the other fantastic places reviewed by this group.
