Defining Your Money Goals, Needs and Wants: Anything obtained without a clear purpose will be abused, and this includes money. Unless you are very clear as to why you need lots of money, don’t get it. If you soberly and critically think about it, no one wants money as an end in itself. Surely, the goal should not be to collect pieces of small papers with pictures of dead people on it. What we really want is the legal value of exchange that those pieces of paper represent. There is something we need or want and we believe money contains the value we can use to get what we want. We have both needs and wants and it is important that you know the difference between the two. A need is something you must have to achieve a worth-while cause. A want is something that you desire to have or will bring pleasure in your life but you can do without it. And there is nothing wrong with having some considerable pleasures in life! You need food, you want a TV. You need accommodation, you want a luxury hotel suite. You need transport, you want to drive a convertible, Mercedes Benz SLK.Understanding “Why” you need or want money will help you set right priorities in your quest for money and wealth. Your reasons for wanting money will be your motivation to go on striving to make the money even when things are tough or look impossible. If you need the money to feed your family, you will push yourself even to the point of borrowing. However, it is foolish to borrow money just to give yourself the pleasure of eating ice cream.What are your goals for wanting lots of money (abundance of money)? What needs do you have that can be answered with money? What wants do you have that require the value of money to help you get the desires of your heart?One of the reasons why most people struggle financially, is that they do not have compelling reasons to motivate them to work hard to acquire money in abundance. They have settled for a mediocre lifestyle that requires very minimal effort to satisfy. If all you want is any basic house, any basic food, any basic second hand clothes, any most cheap means of travel, you will not have the necessary motivation to do what must be done to attract an abundance of money in your life. What will drive you to want to get an abundance of money? Write down the vision, and make it plain upon tables or on paper, that he may run that readeth it.
