Deposed Balogun Gambari Takes Case to Appeal Court ilorin.info/fullnews.php?id=8407 Deposed district head of Ilorin Emirate, the former Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdulkarim Laaro Buhari, has approached the Court of Appeal, Ilorin division to appeal last week’s ruling which struck out his case. The Kwara State High Court in a suit presided over by Justice Mathew Adewara had on Wednesday last week struck out the eight-year-old case on two grounds of lack of jurisdiction and a defective writ of summons filed in 2005. The emir, in 2005, had deposed the four district heads in Ilorin Emirate- Gambari, Alanamu, Ajikobi, and Fulani over acts of disloyalty. The claimant challenged his removal as wrongful and prayed the court to validate his appointment by upturning the emir’s decision. However, the judge in his about two-hour ruling struck out the case and implored both parties to embrace peace. The claimants, dissatisfied with the ruling approached the appellate court, saying the trial judge, “erred in law by holding / concluding that the questioned writ was not signed by a legal practitioner known to law”. It would be recalled that the judgement in the protracted legal battle was to be delivered on July 30, when a motion was brought by the emir/emirate counsel, Mall. Yusuf Ali, to the effect that the claimant’s writ was not properly signed. The claimants in the notice of appeal filed on Friday by their lawyer, Barrister Abeni Mohammed, sought an order, directing Justice M.O Adewara to deliver the judgement he wrote before he received the motion.
