Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Jan Eliasson, just shouted on CNN to seemingly anyone who would listen, Both sides must STOP the violence! Both sides must agree to stop the killing! At which point I lost complete control and shouted back at my television, and in front of my playing children mind you, HAVE YOU NOT READ THE HAMAS CHARTER, YOU IDIOT! My wife shot me the look and I quickly apologized for my lack of self control... but I dont apologize to you. Mr. Eliasson. Seriously....Article 7 of the Charter calls for the universality of JIHAD in Islam, of which HAMAS claims to be a vital link. The goal of Jihad as understood by HAMAS in its charter is traced back to Muhammad, who is quoted in in Article 7:16: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry... 0h Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! The rest of the charter, the very document which governs the organization, is equally committed to the genocide of the Jews. I ask you, Mr. Eliasson, how can you be so naive so as to make a demand which contradicts the very lifeblood of HAMAS? Asking HAMAS to renounce violence against the Jews is akin to asking a human being to stop breathing. Please do your homework before you or your UN cohorts get in front of a television camera again.
