Despite second hand drums and ragtag uniforms that are 75 years old, the Wilson Middle School Drum Core in Pasadena is a proud bunch. These 11,12 and 13 year old kids spend hours practicing while maintaining outstanding grades. Many of the talented kids live in poverty yet they have the courage to stand tall and beat their drums with confidence letting the whole world hear their rhythm. Poverty despite not equate to poverty of the mind. Instead of a handout these budding youngsters are using their own hands to work and strive for a place at the table of success.
