Detectives in Newry are investigating a suspected arson attack at flats in the Talbot Street area in the early hours of Friday 18th July. It is believed that two fires were started in communal areas of the building which contains three flats at around 1.30am. Three men escaped from the property with one of the men requiring hospital treatment for smoke inhalation. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which left extensive smoke and scorch damage to the property. Police are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact CID in Newry on the non emergency number 101 quoting reference number 78180714. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
