Development of educational institutions on the lines of American community colleges The education of youth is an acute problem facing a country with a rapidly growing population. Our country in particular suffers from the lack of a labour force with the ability to meet the demands of diverse industries and sectors. Towards this end, India will start developing institutions based on the concept of community colleges in the US, an article from ‘DNA India’ reported. The article talked about how the Union HRD Minister, Pallam Raju, expressed the need to work with industries and businesses to develop relevant skill sets and curricula devised around them. The stage for this discussion, the article said, was a meeting where the visiting US secretary of state, John Kerry oversaw the formal signings of MoUs between the All India Council for Technological Education (AICTE) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
