Diabetes Association Prepares To Host World Diabetes Day Celebration Educate, engage and empower. That’s the aim of a campaign created by the Grenada Diabetes Association as it prepares to host a month of activities to help persons prevent and control Diabetes. World Diabetes Day will be observed on November 14 this year. The Association is working assiduously to prevent diabetes and to improve the quality of life for those affected through education, service and advocacy. This year, the World Diabetes Day, particular focus will be placed on highlighting the importance of education for health professionals, people with diabetes and people at risk in reducing the impact of diabetes throughout the world. The slogan for 2013 is Diabetes: Protect our Future. Diabetes is one of the major health and development challenges of the 21st century. There are currently 371 million people living with diabetes and another 280 million are at high risk of developing the disease. On Sunday a Church service will be held at the Victoria Pentecostal Church to signal the beginning of the month’s activities. Some of the other activities include Screening, Community outreach, National Diabetes Symposium and Health Fair among others. Throughout the month there will be screening and education sessions at schools, workplaces and community groups.
