Did anyone see the premier of Night of the Living Dead at the Midnight Movies at the movie theater located at what is now the corner of Johnston and Camille? Im sure this crowd remembers the name of the theater thats gone now. My memory of the premier of Night of the Living Dead at this theater is this: I went there with a half dozen stoned friends. We were all high on various medications...mostly acid. I remember sitting next to my friend, whose nickname at the time was Veg, as in,Vegetable Garden, He was moaning and groaning next to me watching people being eaten on the movie screen. I couldd watch the movie. It was too intense. The scenes were too gruesome to watch, even though they were in black and white. When I could no longer take looking at the movie and hearing Veg moan, I got out of my chair looking at the ground, and then walked up the theater ramp to the Lobby where I was surprised to find many people who, like me, couldnt watch the movie, for the same reasons I couldnt watch...too ugly. While I sat in the the Lobby chatting with these people about how horrible the movie was...mostly people I knew from high school...I saw more people exit the theater to find a growing group of people in the Lobby. Occasionally some brave person would volunteer to go into the theater to see what was happening, and then they would come out of of the theater and give everyone an update about the horrible scenes they saw, and everyone would moan when they heard about it. This volunteering and updating went on until the movie ended.. Were any of you there that night? Do you remember seeing the premier of Night of the Living Dead at that theater? Were you in the Lobby that night? I was maybe 17 or 18, a senior in HS.imdb/title/tt0063350/
