Did you know? Kassa, Northeast Guinea; Malinke Ethnic Group Kassa is played both during WORK (FARMING in the fields or other types of labor) and also during the HARVEST. The rhythm is used to support, propel and sustain the difficult labor. Kassa is one of many rhythms used for this purpose, and one of the main ones used in Guinea. The drummers play for the men working all day long; sometimes women come to converse and sing or dance to contribute ENCOURAGEMENT. Kassalodon is the name of the festival at the end of the harvest.
