Did you participate in the first Able Act call? If you called Camp or Levin, make sure to send them a thank you email! Here is a sample letter you can copy and paste (make it yours first). Date: Dear Representative ( Camp or Levin, whichever one you called) On behalf of the RICC to RICC Network, and all individuals with disabilities, we would like to thank you as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee for unanimously passing the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act (H.R. 647/S.313) through the committee on Wednesday, July 28th, 2014. We look forward to working with you and your staff to ensure the ABLE Act moves to the House and Senate floor and onto the President’s desk as quickly as possible. The ABLE Act is life-changing for our families. Not only does the ABLE Act allow savings for the future, it creates incentives for postsecondary education and employment for individuals with disabilities by allowing them to contribute to their own ABLE accounts and seek out employment opportunities without the fear of losing Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Our families, like millions of others across the country, recognize that the ABLE Act will put a stake in the ground so that people with disabilities can go to college, work, save for their future, and most importantly, be as independent as possible. Again, on behalf of all people with disabilities, thank you for your support of the ABLE Act. We look forward to working with you to ensure the ABLE Act becomes law. Sincerely, _(delete this and put your name here)__________
