Discovery Class By: Pastor Celso C. Buagas Lesson IV “God’s Wonderful Plan of our salvation” I. INTRODUCTION: Since no man has ever been able to solve his own sin problem his future is very dark. The penalty of sin which is death and separation from God must be paid in hell. God’s great love however, has made a way for man to be saved. II. GOD SHOWS HIS JUSTICE: God could never be called a righteousness judge if He did not impose the clear penalty of sin according to the law. a. He demanded death penalty (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:22). b. He accepted the substitutionary payment of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9:24:29). Why could Jesus payment be accepted on our behalf? 1. it was voluntary (John 10:17-18) 2. He was sinless (1 Peter 2:22-24) 3. He paid in full. “Once for all” (Hebrews 7:27-28). III. GOD’S SHOWS HIS LOVE: a. By His desire to help the helpless (Romans 5:6) b. By His loving us in spite of our sins (Romans 5:8) c. By His willingness to sacrifice His only son (John 3:16) d. By the Son’s willingness to sacrifice (John 10:17-18). 1. He left heaven so we could go to heaven (2 Corinthians 8:9; Philippians 2:6-9). 2. He become the son of man so that we can become sons of God (John 1:12). 3. He bore our sins so we can be cleansed from sin (1 Peter 2:24) 4. He bore our guilt so we could be declared righteous (1 Peter 3:18, Romans 4:5). IV. MAN’S NEEDS TO SHOW HIS LOVE FOR GOD. a. By believing that salvation is a free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) Note: salvation is a free gift but not cheap. It cost the precious blood of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18-19). Don’t insult Him by trying to pay for it by your good works. Remember a gift is a gift but it will never be yours until you accept and receive it. b. By accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior (John 1:12). Receiving Christ includes three (3) steps: 1. Repent of sin (Acts 3:19). a. Mind: I was wrong in sinning. b. Heart: I am sorry for sinning. c. Will: I will stop sinning. 2. Believe (John 3:16) a. Mind: I know He died for me. b. Heart: I trust Him to save me. c. Will: I will follow Him. 3. Confession: a. I confess my sins to Jesus (1 John 1:9). b. I confess Jesus to my friends (Matt. 10:32-33). V. CONCLUSION: There are two reasons why you should accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior right now. a. Our lives are uncertain. We could die at any time. After death there is no more chance to be saved. There is only judgment waiting (Hebrews 9:27). b. Jesus Christ promise to return like a thief in the night. When we least expect Him, He will arrive. The Bible states: Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 5:20-6:2). “A suggested prayer of acceptance & commitment” Dear heavenly Father, I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ paid for my sins when he died on the cross. Please forgive me for my sins. I am willing to turn from them. I am inviting now Jesus Christ to come into my life as my Lord and Savoir. By the help of the Holy Spirit I will follow and obey Him in all things. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
