Distraction from cell phone use while driving can be just as - TopicsExpress

Distraction from cell phone use while driving can be just as dangerous as driving while drunk! Drivers who use a cell phone while driving are four times as likely to get into serious accidents than drivers who dont, and distracted driving is a factor in 25% of crashes reported by police! Due to the number of accidents that are related to cell phone use while driving, some jurisdictions have made the use of a cell phone while driving illegal. Others have enacted laws to ban handheld mobile phone use, but allow use of a hands free device. To help keep you and others safe on the road, practice some of the following cell phone safety tips: 1. Whenever possible, make calls when your car is not moving. 2. Use the cell phone only when absolutely necessary. Save casual conversations for times when your vehicle is stopped. Plan your conversation in advance, and keep it short and avoid emotional topics; especially in hazardous conditions such as rain, snow or heavy traffic. 3. Program frequently called numbers into your phones memory. The less dialing, the better. 4. Never take notes, write messages, or look up phone numbers while driving. If you must do any of these things, pull over. 5. If possible, ask a passenger to make or take a call for you. Thank you for reading. Brookstone Insurance & Associates, Inc.
