Dixie and I are one of 5 Runners and their Dogs in the entire - TopicsExpress

Dixie and I are one of 5 Runners and their Dogs in the entire Country to be selected to be on the Eukanuba Tribe. People who know me, know that my favorite running buddy is Dixie the Dog. A few of you (you know who you are) come in a very close second. We rescued Dixie from a horrible fate that her siblings did not survive. Dixie is always... always... always ready to run, brings me my socks, continually encourages me to get off my Bum and get out the door. If I dont get the hint with the first pair of socks, she will keep bringing me socks and dropping them at my feet until I relent. I have a lot of socks and she has come close to emptying the drawer. (I think she assumes that she just didnt bring me the right socks and keeps bringing them until I have that just right pair.) She kisses me before we go and when we get back, and without saying a word she is entertaining to watch, and just plain and simple, great company. She does not care where, how far, or how fast we go, as long as we go. It can be 5AM or 10PM; she is ready. She doesnt mind if I listen to music, calculate math in my head (or out loud), or stop to stretch. I can run my pace, whether tempo run, fartlek, or hills, she is generally always within a few steps. She is rarely underfoot, I never have to ask her to slow down, and I never feel guilty about speeding up, or stopping. She isnt embarrassed when I climb that bluff at Centennial and Losee and jog around the top with fists pumping the air - like Rocky. She doesnt get grossed out when I spit, do a farmers nose blow, or fart mid-run. She lavishes me with love, sleeps on my feet, and when I retire at night, I know where she is... laying in my spot and using my pillow for her head. I always have to move her (I think she loves the game), and she is at my feet when I wake up. Never out of sorts, always cheerful, she is my Friend. Lest you wonder.... yes, I do love my wife Joni more... much much more, she is my very best friend (I owe her my life), and while I love to take long walks with her, she is not my Running Buddy. And I know she is glad for that. That is Dixies job. One last thing, Joni doesnt try to wake me up by licking my face... Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure that I am glad for that.
