Do 4 standing abdominal stretches. How to do it.... Grab a small weight, can, or water bottle. Stand up straight with your feet hip-distance apart and the weight in your right hand with your arm at your side. Place the fingers on your left hand on your left temple. Bend at the waist and go as far to the right as you can. Straighten and return to the starting position, then bend to the left. Switch the weight to your left hand, place the fingers of your right hand on your right temple, and repeat the two stretches. Why it matters... This exercise provides a nice stretch for the oblique muscles, the long, diagonal muscles on either side of your midsection. The obliques are what help you bend from side to side and allow you to twist your torso. Strengthening these muscles can help you perform everyday tasks with less risk of injury. And when done regularly, oblique exercises can help whittle your waist.
