“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves - TopicsExpress

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world.” – 1 John 2:15-16 During the mid-1800’s, musicians noted that errand boys in Westminster section of London all whistled out of tune as they went about their work. It was talked about and someone suggested that it was because the bells of Westminster were slightly out of tune. Something had gone wrong with the chimes and they were discordant. The boys did not know there was anything wrong with the peals, and quite unconsciously they had copied their pitch. Soon it was discovered the bells at St. Paul’s Cathedral and “Big Ben” were also out of tune, causing others to follow their errant melodies. Likewise, we tend to copy the people with whom we associate; we borrow thoughts from the books we read and the television shows we watch, the radio programs to which we listen, almost without knowing it. But God has said not to love the world, but to love His Word. His Word has the absolute perfect pitch of life and living. If we learn to follow His Word, we shall easily detect the false in all of the tunes of the world. This is a fallen world and we should not love it. We are travelers on our way to heaven with our Heavenly Father. Today in prayer, give your heart to the Lord and seek to follow Him in all you do. Love not the world, for it is a moth in a Christians life. - John Bunyan God’s Word: “but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.” – James 1:14
