Do you ever find yourself lost or without focus? Today, I was - TopicsExpress

Do you ever find yourself lost or without focus? Today, I was enlightened to find that I was there. I say “enlightened” loosely because that’s not how I saw the day going. Guilty As Charged! I was asked to remember how Sophias Team was started. The answer-Sophia’s Team was started through grief. Grief sucks. It’s stupid. Nobody likes it but inevitably everyone goes through it at some point. Everybody grieves differently. What you might not know about me is that grief actually motivated me! I told myself I wouldn’t allow our grief of losing Sophia to drown me. It could have easily swallowed me whole and sat on my chest in ways that I could only sob silently by myself. That wasn’t me. No judgment on anyone but I knew that I couldn’t do that and I told myself that she wouldn’t want that for us, so, I didn’t. On October 9, 2011 Sophias Team became a reality when the 40 Day Challenge started on a day that we should have been celebrating Sophia’s 1st birthday. The “presents” we received were hugs, love and notifications of random acts of kindness….for 40 days from complete strangers! Grief can heal with time but that won’t ever stop us from continuing to make a difference with Sophia’s Team. If you know us, you know that we’ve gone on to have another child, a child we longed for, for so many years. We were blessed with Sophia’s little Sister, Quinn, this year. We know how lucky we are to have a healthy child in our home, but every day we see her health we are reminded that Sophia lost the battle with her health. Sophia never came home and never got the chance to check off the milestones that Quinn is doing as she grows. Just because we are happy, doesn’t mean we don’t remember her through our tears. Through social media, word of mouth and simple meet and greets we are able to share Sophia’s Story with you. In a few words we are able to tell you about the Challenge or if you have 3 minutes you can watch a video and see pictures of her! We hope to always have these means of communication with you and we hope even more that you continue to share for her! We have a purpose and there is meaning behind the pink shirts. What started as remembering our baby girl’s life will hopefully turn in to saving someone’s life through heart awareness for infants. We’ll just call it a big dream…..But our Tiny Dancer knows a little something about big crazy dreams! #Sophias40Days
