Does northeastern Oklahoma still have an abundance of family - TopicsExpress

Does northeastern Oklahoma still have an abundance of family farms? I remember it being very rural and farm oriented when I was a child. Does Muskogee have a farmers market? When I googled the music hall of fame, I noticed a building across the street. It appears to be abandoned, long, and have a lot of windows. Sort of looks like a bombed out building in Europe after WWII. Although it is not great architecture, it could be a farmers market on Saturday or Sunday morning. If it caught on, Wednesday could be added. It would not be expensive compared to lofts. It would need to have plumbing and electricity and be cleaned up inside to meet health standards. It would need lights, some big box fans for circulation, and parking. The vendors would bring their own folding tables and chairs. There would have to be a manager for scheduling and paying utilities and coordinating with the city about health standards. Part of the vendors cost for renting a space would go to paying the manager something. It would be good to have a local bakery or cafe have a booth with donuts and coffee. And have an area where a musician could set up a mike and portable speaker, which they would probably have to supply themselves. Oh, and a flush toilet is a must or you wont have any women shopping there. To get started, everything would have to be done as cheaply as possible so that the cost of produce is not too much more than at the supermarket. If whoever owns it has no plans for it in 2014, then I think they should either donate the space or rent it very cheaply--maybe just enough to pay property taxes. Having something happening there would help them keep it up and prevent crime. Having something going on usually makes a property more attractive, even if the buyer plans to bulldoze it and build something new. Things should be able to be set up so the owner has the flexibility to sell it or develop it with fairly short notice.
