Dont be alarmed with the defoliation of trees on Red Oak Island in Pool 7 near Dresbach, Minnesota. The defoliation is due to the fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea. These webworm outbreaks occur about every four to seven years and last only two to three years. They are unlikely to kill tree species, and control methods are generally unwarranted, as there is an abundance of natural predators in the area, such as wasps and the yellow-billed cuckoos LOVE these hairy caterpillars.
