Dont know if this one has been covered, but its fairly obscure for as famous as the artist is. From 1913 until his death in 1967, Edward Hopper lived and worked in a studio at the top of 3 Washington Square North. The space has a nice, large, north-facing skylight. The building ws eventually purchased by NYU, who attempted to drive Hopper and the other tenants from it so they could tear it and the rest of the row down. Hopper and his wife fought this and were able to stay. The studio passed to NYU after Hoppers death and they maintain it as it was. It is open to the public by appointment, but it is not well-publicized. More pics here: untappedcities/2013/09/10/former-edward-hopper-studio-and-home-on-washington-square-to-get-cultural-medallion/ Pics are a contemporary shot of the interior -only one I could find with the skylight showing and a 1948 photo by Berenice Abbot, taken at the height of the fight between the Hoppers and the University.
