Door knocking is a great way to spend summer evenings. Not only do you get to meet wonderful members of our community. You also get to see some interesting things. Like remnants of the storm still with us and tearing up our sidewalks two months later. Or pretty blue birds and bird houses in front yards. But one of my favorites was Fruit of the City – an organization that harvests food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to those in need. This organization partakes in CSAs and farmer’s markets along with co-ops and gardens. Addressing hunger is an important issue I care about and have worked on.
