Dr Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said that Indian Muslims should support Israel instead of Hamas and that it would be in India’s interest to support the middle-eastern country currently embroiled in the conflict in Gaza. Dr Swamy said “We support Israel, whether the Central government supports it or not. This conflict should be seen as a fight between terrorism and a democratic country instead of from a religious perspective. Israel is a democratic country while Hamas is a terrorist organization. It will be in the nation’s interest to support Israel and why should patriotic Muslims of India support Hamas and not Israel when it is not in the nation’s interest,” Dr Swamy also reckoned six reasons for supporting Israel and assured that this time India would support Israel at United Nations (UN). Dr Swamy stressed on forming a mutual assistance pact with the country for helping each other in dealing with terrorism.
