Drake University alumna Clemencia Spizzirri, ED09 has been named the Iowa Teacher of the Year. According to this release from the Iowa Department of Education, the Spanish teacher at Merrill Middle School is known for helping needy children and families understand the power of a high-quality education and for her focus on ensuring that children learning English as a second language are truly part of the culture of achievement.
