Drawing (Fall 2013) Dear Parents/Guardians: If all goes according to plan, we will be preparing to have our first test on Thursday of this week. It will cover all the terminology they have had so far (elements, principles, linear perspective terms, and the 5 purposes of art). I recommend that they begin studying now just in case another teacher decides to give a test on Friday. They can either study all the terms each night or divide up the terms (i.e. elements on Monday night, principles on Tuesday night, linear perspective/art purposes on Wednesday night, etc.). We will have a review in class this Wednesday, and I will ask the students to know the terms by that time so they can see how prepared for the test they really are. If you want any other study suggestions, feel free to ask. I will do my best to accommodate you. This week the Beginning Drawing class will begin working on their first projects. They will be drawing an actual hallway in our school by using visual perspective, linear perspective, and some math. They may want to bring a calculator if they have difficulty doing division long hand. They will also be learning some shading techniques. Projects are worth 45% of their grade so please encourage your students to do their best and to not miss school this week.
