Driver Sacked After Toddler Left On Cold Bus ift.tt/1iati7D A school bus driver has been sacked after a three-year-old boy was left in his vehicle without heating for several hours in bitterly cold temperatures. The childs mother, Mishiloh Akturk, said her son could have frozen to death after the scare in Franklin Township, New Jersey. She had put him on the bus in the morning for his ride to school. And in the early afternoon she was waiting at the bus stop for him after classes ended when she got a call from transportation officials. She was alerted her to the fact he had spent nearly six hours on the vehicle. Ms Akturk told mycentraljersey: I never received a call from the school saying that he didnt show up that day. I got a call at about 2pm saying he sat on the bus all day without heat or food or anything. I guess he fell asleep and was sitting in the back. The boy recently started school at Franklin Park The mother, whose son has only recently started school at Franklin Park in Somerset County, added: Thank God I bundled him with layers and his hat and gloves. He sat on that bus for five-plus hours. He could have died. He could have frozen to death. The EMT (health worker) was there and checked him out. He seems fine. Hes was happy and eating his lunch when I got there. Everything seems OK right now. Hes a real trooper. The part-time driver, who reportedly ignored the child reminder system on the vehicle, was fired on the spot. A manager claimed there had been no previous problems with the driver, who was even seen on video helping the kids off the bus. He was very good. Its unfortunate it happened to him that way. :: Watch Sky News live on television, on Sky channel 501, Virgin Media channel 602, Freeview channel 82 and Freesat channel 202.
