During his State of the Union address tonight, I was pleased to hear the President outline proposals to strengthen the middle class and grow our economy. These have been my top priorities in Congress, and I agree with the President that we must focus on creating new jobs, expanding economic opportunities, and preparing our next generation to compete. I was encouraged by the President’s call to close corporate tax loopholes that ship our jobs overseas, his initiatives to improve job training programs that provide our workers and veterans with the skills they need to succeed, and his support for investments in Pre-K that prepare our children for the future. These are steps we must take to accelerate economic growth and keep and create jobs in Central New York. As the President said in his speech tonight, we can expand opportunities for all if we work together. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and the President to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, and ensure that every Central New Yorker has a fair shot.
