During the past five days there have been tremendous and encouraging words shared at our missions convention at Grace Chapel. An underlying thread that I saw in the entire weekend is Where is your counsel coming from? I really like what brother Lester Seiler said Saturday about this subject ~ When you are walking on the water, dont take advice from the people in the boat So many ministers face ridicule, disapproval, lack of support, and this just touches on the more emotional effects, not even taking into account persecution of the church. We as Christians are met with a plethora of influences and vocies. The tumultuous noise of distraction has had its way with too many of Gods children! Often at the end of catastrophe from listening to the noise we try to blame God for our situation. The real issue is WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TOO? Yet God has been faithful to be right there through the storm. He has been faithful and will remain to be so in all areas of your life. Read Kings 19 and focus on the time Elijah spent in the cave after running off. God asked Him a question and Elijah gave him an answer. Then God asked Elijah to come out of the cave and witness God passing by. There was a strong wind, earthquake, and fire in that order, but God was not IN those manifestations of spiritual movement. After all came the sound of a low whisper and Elijah covered his face and God asked the same question. God then revealed to Elijah that there were yet many in Israel that had not bowed down the Baal. Elijah got distracted and God had to remind Elijah the power of the Lord. Truth is we all know deep down in our heart the voice of the Lord. Elijah seemed to respond to the low whisper covering himself in preparation for the Lords presence as Im sure he was aware of waht happened with Moses on Mt. Sinai. Even in distraction and discouraging counsel the Lord can cut through all the muddle. Are you willing to allow the Lord to shut the mouth of the accuser even at the expense of friendship, or a family tie? I have witnessed what hapens to an individuals life just because someone was more afraid of never seeing or talking to a loved one again than they were concerned with righteousness...Chew on that for a bit
