EDITORIAL & MARKETING ASSISTANT (UNPAID) Posted by Alliance for Peacebuilding on July 29, 2013 at 12:05pm in Internship/Volunteer OpportunitiesView Discussions The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is seeking a part-time editorial and marketing intern to assist with the editorial development and marketing of AfP’s new online publication, Building Peace: A Forum for Peace and Security in the 21st Century (buildingpeaceforum/). The editorial & marketing assistant will be a vital member of the editorial team of Building Peace and will have many opportunities to participate in the growth and development of a new and innovative publication while connecting with AfP’s network of partners both overseas and in Washington. AfP is a membership-based network of more than seventy organizations and hundreds of professionals devoted to building sustainable peace and security worldwide. Summary The editorial and marketing assistant will work with the Editor-in-Chief and AfP Program Director to develop features and articles with expert authors, engage with the publication’s Editorial Board and design team, and strategize for the strategic positioning, branding, promotion and distribution of the publication. The ideal candidate will have editorial, marketing and communications experience. The internship (15-20 hrs/wk) is unpaid. It will accommodate a flexible schedule, run from September – December 2013, and take place in Washington, DC. Preference will be given to candidates that are able to continue the internship into the spring of 2014. AfP is willing to work with the candidate’s higher education institution for course credit, if applicable. Qualifications At least three years completed college coursework, graduate students encouraged to apply ● Excellent writing skills and attention to detail ● Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines ● Experience with communications and marketing, including Search Engine Optimization and partnership development ● Proactive, independent and team-oriented work ethic ● Ability to receive constructive criticism and learn from feedback ● Positive attitude and an ability to engage with a wide variety of people ● Experience or familiarity with peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and/or international affairs a plus.
