We in the ERC welcome the development of the state government of Osun in the recent bill passage of extending retirement age to 65years amongst five (5) major demands of the CASUOSTI including Recruitment of more staffs, Approval of 90% CONPCASS agreement signed, infrastructural decay in the institutions, poor working environment and others. The achievement of the retirement age has come as a result of resoluteness and rigidness of the workers struggle. Hence, if such discipline can be protracted then there is chances of fighting the battle to win all demands precluded by the Aregbesola led administration. The on-going strike lingering the state of Osun that has lasted 5 months now has brought about decadence in the socio-economic activities of the host communities, intellectual and mental distraction for lecturers and students, dwindling academic performance and compromise of academic standards, social and human calamities through indulgence in social activities catalyzed by idleness and other backwardness in the education sector of the state. In view of this disasters caused by the industrial crisis, we in the ERC call on the CASUOSTI striking workers to call on his congress to resolute and stage a “A DAY OF ACTION” for raising the bar of consciousness and civil sensitization and simultaneously we call on the students leadership at all level NANS, JCC, SUG and other proclaimed revolutionary bodies to place the struggle of the students at the front burner and never to compromise the interest of those whom they are representing.
