mt. pinatubo 50k ultra trail race. finished 19th overall with an unofficial time for 8:47. we got lost on our way back! total distance covered was 51.36km. i enjoyed this race very much! this race offers a different trail experience. the terrain was sureal! the route is very dynamic. all you are given is a general direction in a river bed that is almost a kilometer in width! it is up to you to decide on how to proceed. some trail common sense and orienteering skills will come in handy! the route is very difficult to run on due to numerous, and i mean numerous, lahar river bed crossings. your feet will get wet as early as Km 1! so basiclly, you run the whole race with wet shoes/socks and feet! the lahar in most part is soft making it difficult to run. no energy return on toe off as the sand absorb all the stride energy!ì i highly recommend this race. i think it is a must run race for trail runners. i think i want to run it again next time! :)
