#EQUIPMENT35 We have already discussed about the basic function of Ram BOP. Now we shall discuss only 4 types of Ram BOP which are included in IWCF curriculum. • Cameron U Type • Shaffer Posh Lock • Shaffer Ultra Lock • Koomey Auto Lock • Hydril Multiple Position Lock (MPL) Of all these types to be discussed, the key point to remember is: • Cameron U type BOPs are wellbore assisted BOPs, i.e, their design is such that the wellbore pressure from the annulus also helps closing the BOP • The last for BOPs have Ram locking system. • The Shaffer Posh Lock has a unique Ram Locking Mechanism. The above three points are important as the question in IWCF are based on these points only. No working mechanism is asked for any BOP type in IWCF Exam.
