ESE Phrase of the Day “To do a runner/bunk.” This phrase/expression is used in informal English to explain that someone disappeared rather hurriedly (and often permanently) either to escape a problem, responsibility or the police (or with stolen money!) Example D: “So what happened to him after they found that money in his account?” N: “Well, he did a runner. The police are still looking for him.”
