ETHICS UNIT TESTS UNIT TESTS ON ETHICS WILL BE CONDUCTED EVERY SATYRDAY AT 2.30PM TO 3.30 P,M,(HOWEVER FIRST TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED ON 28TH SUNDAY) NORMALLY WE WILL GO CHAPTER BY CHAPTER PORTION FOR FIRST WEEK IS CHAPTER1- THERE WILL BE TWO QUESTIONS ON THEORIES AND TWO QUESTIONS ON CASE STUDIES. THOSE CANDIDATES WHO ARE UNDERGOING PRESENT ETHICS CLASSES AND THOSE WHO UNDERWENT GS COACHING IN 2014 CAN TAKE UP THE TEST FREELY. OTHERS HAVE TO PAY FEES OF RS 500 AND TAKE TEST. REGISTRATION TILL 17TH SEPTEMBER. ETHICS PAPER HAS FOLLOWING SYLLABUS TOPIC 1 Ethics and Human Interface: Essence, determinants and consequences of Ethics in human actions; dimensions of ethics; ethics in private and public relationships. TOPIC 2 Human Values – lessons from the lives and teachings of great leaders, reformers and administrators; role of family, society and educational institutions in inculcating values. TOPIC 3 Attitude: content, structure, function; its influence and relation with thought and behaviour; moral and political attitudes; social influence and persuasion. TOPIC 4 Aptitude and foundational values for Civil Service , integrity, impartiality and non-partisanship,objectivity, dedication to public service, empathy, tolerance and compassion towards the weaker sections. TOPIC 5 Emotional intelligence-concepts, and their utilities and application in administration and governance. TOPIC 6 Contributions of moral thinkers and philosophers from India and world. TOPIC 7 Public/Civil service values and Ethics in Public administration: Status and problems; ethical concerns and dilemmas in government and private institutions; laws, rules, regulations and conscience as sources of ethical guidance; accountability and ethical governance; strengthening of ethical and moral values in governance; ethical issues in international relations and funding; corporate governance. TOPIC 8 Probity in Governance: Concept of public service; Philosophical basis of governance and probity; TOPIC 9 Information sharing and transparency in government, Right to Information, Codes of Ethics, Codes of Conduct, Citizen’s Charters, Work culture, Quality of service delivery, Utilization of public funds,challenges of corruption. TOPIC 10 Case Studies on above issues.
