EXCERPT: The Republican argument that President Barack Obama is not leading on the world stage has grown as old and worn out as the Republican Party’s views themselves. Barack Obama knows that there is still work to be done to restore America’s reputation on the world stage and he is doing everything he can to do so, despite having a Republican-led Congress that refuses to work with him in any regard. President Obama knows that the United States can not go about lecturing other countries about fairness and equality if we don’t have it here at home. What Republicans fail to understand is that their recalcitrance to govern has hindered America’s reputation far greater than any action on the part of the President. As they continue to sit on the sideline and play armchair president while failing to offer any meaningful solutions, the United States of America has an actual sitting president who with everything imaginable on his plate, is still going to bat to ensure that all Americans are treated fairly and equally under the law. That is what real leadership looks like.
