EXPOSE: Remember these two lovely girls looking for a forever home near Raglan? Well... they are both now DEAD! I have now been given the go ahead by their legal owner to expose what happened. LARA was contacted after their appeal for a new loving home by Kelz Wati, who professed to have 9 acres of land for them, and sent us photos as proof. We then put her in touch with Cheryl, the legal owner who had them at the grazers, and was desperately seeking somewhere for her two lovely pet cows as a permanent home. Kelz and Cheryl sorted out transportation, Cheryl met her and was happy with where she was led to believe they were going, and so on Tuesday 16th September at 8am, they left for their new home. We learn later that upon arrival they were kept in an old small stock yard until 5pm with NO food or water, and a neighbouring farmer who was loading her own stock for slaughter could hear their cries, and went up to the rental to see what was up with the two cows. She was told by Kelz that they were given to her by friends but she doesnt want them and they can bugger off to the hills for all she cares. The neighbours daughter purchased them both for $1400, and they then ALONE travelled to Morrinsville the next day Wednesday, and Thursday morning both were slaughtered, alone, afraid, and all the while Cheryl had no idea her beloved pet cows had been sold within hours of arriving. I post this as a WARNING to ALL animal owners, to please be very careful when rehoming your beloved pets. Cheryl has now taken the matter up with the Police, and out of her own pocket has also brought Civil against against Kelz Wati, who has until end of the day to pay back the $1400 she received under false pretences. The neighbour informs Cheryl that they were heard partying until 3am after their they were sold. You think the matter ends there? No.. I have since recently learned that Kelz Wati runs a RESCUE page here on facebook. It is called Little Vally Farm - forever home Waikato. I emplore you do NOT have anything to do with this animal rescue who do NOT rehome forever at all. Instead these cows were snapped up after seeing they needed a home, and sold for meat the very next day. This not only has caused immense grief to Cheryl, but also to ourselves and all who knew and loved these girls. The neighbour too had no idea, and only knew what she was led to believe. I cannot remain silent on this matter, and I have been warned that by posting this expose we could be in for some immense grief and unpleasantness. However I cannot remain silent either, and for those that have no voice like Molly & Sheba here, I have to speak out, and loudly! Also this makes a mockery of all us hard working rescues, that work day and night, very often at our own cost to help animals in need, to help find them new homes, to help rehabilitate towards new lives, and who do their best to ensure they are NOT used for meat purposes. This travesty has sent a shockwave, and I hope other rescues join me in supporting my decision to expose what has happened. Cheryl is also going to Parliament to seek a change in the law. Having pet cows NAIT registered only gives proof of movement and not proof of ownership. Slaughter houses know when they get the odd cow in, but have no legal obligation to chase up and find out if the animal is stolen or not. So we shall be supporting Cheryl in her campaign later to change the law for pet farmed animals and ownership issues. Here is the link to the forever home rescue... used as a ploy to get free meat. If you wish to take your animal there, that is your choice, but please say your forever farewells if you do. https://facebook/groups/1426551477616951/
