Each Friday Manifesta looks back at it’s history, to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary in 2014. This Friday we pay attention to a new art initiative, one based on the former site of Manifesta 9 in Genk. Mine-Art 2 (5-28 July) is the second instalment of a contemporary art festival that offers a podium to both professional, amateur and young artists in a wide range of disciplines. The event is named Mine-Art after the mine building, part of the Waterschei park (and the main exhibition area for Manifesta 9). Events aimed at engaging the local community as well as art lovers will be held throughout the July weekends, offering activities such as historical and art walks.
