Each day we get asked questions about ingredients that someone may - TopicsExpress

Each day we get asked questions about ingredients that someone may have read something about on Google, or on another companies website, or in natural reference type books and someone is concerned about. Firstly it is great to check the ingredients. But it can be very easy to become paranoid as anything with a chemical name suddenly becomes TOXIC on Google etc.. Often there is an agenda. If concerned about any ingredient and want to check, always remember to go to scholar.google. and search under topical [insert ingredient]. and that will show if there are any studies to support the claim. A typical example will be Citric Acid. Sure by itself, Citric Acid on the skin will burn and not be good at all. It is a Skin Irritant! and is listed like that in many places. But when added to a formula that is alkaline, citric acid balances the pH and makes it milder. We have even seen Sodium Chloride listed as a skin irritant and carcinogenic (Sure, if we eat a tonne it may be, but not in a shampoo. Not that we use it btw) Dont be scared unnecessarily, just take 2 minutes to double check what people say using Google Scholar. That was a bit of light reading for a Friday! Have a good weekend everyone.
