Earlier this afternoon, SPCA rescued a community cat from being trapped between the grilled slats of a side gate, at a Lorong in Geylang. The cat was observed to have been stuck in its tight spot for at least twenty minutes. Our rescue officers, Eswaran and Glen, rushed to the scene within ten minutes of the distress call by the informers. A reasonable amount of cat shampoo was applied onto the cats body, helping to lubricate the cat so that it could be gradually eased out of its predicament. The ear-tipped cat was inspected by our officers to be physically fine (though a little shaken). It was then released back to the community, though our informers would be helping to keep watch on the cats progress for the time being. We thank our informers for alerting us to the cats distress. Members of the public who find any animal to be sick, injured and/or in distress from the streets are urged to alert the SPCA at its 24-hour emergency hotline 62875355 ext 9. We will accord top priority to clear emergency cases.
