Earlier today, I was part of a group that went back into the juvenile detention center where all the kids gathered with us in the gym. I had good conversation with alot of inmates (especially the one I mentor, who is getting out this upcoming Thursday), but one in particular caught my attention. The darkness on his face was unmistakably something he wore on a daily basis and the hate in his eyes conveyed his ever so clear message of f*** you, dont talk to me; I know the look well, Ive worn it for years. Still, looking straight into his hate-filled eyes I told him he was worth something and that wasting his life isnt the answer. Surprisingly, he allowed me to pray for him after he clearly expressed his not caring for anything relating Jesus, and after I prayed that he would encounter the Holy Spirit and told him what God was telling me to say, he couldnt look me in the eye anymore. Instead bags started forming underneath, while his eyes were red and started to water. God started doing a work in this boy, and He is far from finished. After the inmate thanked me, I could see that God has started the process of melting his heart of stone just as He did mine.
