Earlier today I was talking to Abby (My daughter, Logans older sister.) We were talking about people who judge- mainly moms who judge moms. I had Abby when I was a teenager and by the time I was the age she is now, I had 2 kids. Many people had an opinion. Omg shes gonna be a teen mom Oh man, shes not married, no college diploma Oh this poor dumb girl having a kid with her highschool boyfriend. Later on it was You let her dye her hair pink and purple? You didnt make her do her homework every night as soon as she got home? No forced sports? Clubs? Why is she always wearing a tutu/unicorn head/feather boa? You let her watch how much tv and eat how much junk food?? You let her wear sunglasses, Mickey ears and hold a light saber in her school portrait? Well, here we are 22 yrs later and my answer to all of those questions remains the same. Uh, because shes fabulous? She not only survived but she thrived, and has grown into the coolest human ever. You see that kid at the store in a costume? Hes probably creative and his parents are cool with that. You know the girl next door with purple hair? Shes confident enough to pull it off and that is amazing. If you are that parent, hold your head high. You might screw up but its a learning process...and in the overall grand scheme of life? Blue hair is just a blip on the radar. I was a clueless, penniless, educationless, jobless teen mother. I was judged and not taken seriously and looked down upon. I dont even need to say Kiss my Ass to those people. My kids do that for me. #RockTheShitOutOfParenting #TheyOnlyGetOneChildhood I love you AbbyGirl.
