EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus Details! EarlyBird is a parent programme for families who have a pre-school aged child with a diagnosis of ASD. The specific age criteria is up to 4yrs. The programmes are in fact parent self-referral, so once a family has received a diagnosis they are able to contact their local team directly and express an interest. Each team will host an information meeting to explain to families what the programme entails and to ensure they feel it will meet their needs. The programmes last for 3 months and consist of 8 group sessions with other families, as well as home visits in between. There are 2 family places allocated. EarlyBird Plus is a similar framework to EarlyBird however is aimed at families who have received later diagnosis for their child, age range is 4-8yrs. (not yet 9) In the EarlyBird Plus programme there are 3 places available, 2 family places and 1 for an accompanying professional. There are both EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus teams in Ashford, Shepway and Dover.
