Earthquake news, this helps ! Dr. Lucy Jones from USGS at Caltech: 5% of CA earthquakes are followed by something larger within 3 days. This one was preceded by a 3.6, so that 3.6 had the same 5% chance, it was in the 5% followed by this one. But we have the same sort of chance of another larger event within the sequence. So tonight is the most likely time. The next hour is the most likely time. And each hour that we pass without another earthquake, bigger earthquake happening, reduces the chance. So the first 6 hours has about half of the risk, so you have 5% right away. By 6 hours out, youre down to about 2%-3%, by a day out you will be below 1%. What to do to prepare tonight (just in case)? 1. Dont have something glass or heavy hanging above your bed or your childrens bed 2. Dont have a book shelf that can fall on to the bed, hook or strap them to the wall 3. If you have something precious or you hate to lose, dont leave it on a high shelf on display and put it down on the ground.
